Beyond the Valley Glen

As I walk to see my childhood's end
I walk beyond the valley glen
To find a place where I belong
Where comfort's felt again and again

Before, I belonged to an elder place
Where comfort governed every move
But now the comfort's gone to waste
A newer place that none approve

The place once home is no longer there
And the light once shone became extinct
The new place tries to light its flame
My understanding left indistinct

As I walk the path that lies ahead
I walk beyond the valley glen
I've seen a future in my head
I'll speak of it never again
